Students and enthusiasts of Taekwondo have many reasons for their interest in this and other martial art styles. Some are drawn to the physical fitness and weight-loss aspects of training. Others seek to add discipline and self control to their lives. While still others are concerned about safety and self-defense. Whether you are interested in our programs for mental or physical well being, ATA Black Belt Academy & Karate for Kids offers a number of programs that will fit your developmental needs and your busy schedule as well. No matter what may be the reason for a person to train in the martial arts, we at the ATA Black Belt Academy & Karate for Kids have a program for you. Schedules

Our curriculums are divide into age appropriate groups:

The Tiny Tiger program offers children (ages 3 to 5) a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy,            respect and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions.  All classes are taught using the most safe, fun and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. Here at ATA Black Belt Academy we also use the “Drill Skills Tools” to, teach them to jump over obstacles, hop scotch rings to increase the child’s agilities combined with the martial arts techniques. In addition to our internationally recognized Karate for Kids program, we offer the Tiny Tiger Taekwondo program. The Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 3 through 5. This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and Life Skills system.

There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the martial arts. We have developed a program based on traditional Taekwondo for kids called Karate for Kids. ATA’s Karate for Kids program is based on lifetime learning concept in addition to the technical skills of traditional Taekwondo. The building blocks for our system are monthly themes such as:

Goals Friendship Perseverance
Self-Control Confidence Self-Improvement
Courtesy Self-Awareness Respect
Integrity Self-Esteem Dedication

The American Taekwondo Association (ATA) has designed the Karate for Kids program to meet the needs of children ages 6 through 14. The specially designed program offers children many benefits that will help shape their future by giving them self respect and confidence in their own abilities.

The Karate for Kids motto is: "Every Kid Is A Winner"

Karate for Kids develops greater self-esteem, discipline and leadership skills while learning basic self-defense maneuvers Our martial arts program has been successful in helping children with special needs like ADD, ADHD, ODD, PDD, Bi-Polar and learning disorders. Many school psychologist and educators have recommended martial arts for these children.

Teen &Adult Programs

In the early days 1960's the martial arts was mainly young men and older teenage boys. Those days are long gone. Today the martial arts are for all ages. The ATA Black Belt Academy & Karate for Kids facilities are proud to be able to say that we are family orientated with students of all ages. In many cases we have parents of the younger students taking classes for many reasons. Our Teen/Adult program teaches traditional Taekwondo to students ages 15 and older. We have a wide variety of abilities and ages in this program and we can show how Taekwondo can benefit everyone. Our adult students in many cases are the parents of the children in our programs. These parents decided that the time that the spent watching their children have fun in classes could be better spent doing Taekwondo themselves. We encourage all parents to join whether it is for fitness/health reasons, self-defense, or maybe confidence building; however, many join so that they are able to do something with their children. Taekwondo is one thing that a parent can participate in right along side their children in the same class.

Master's Club

This program is part of our Leadership/Certified Instructor Training program. These students are working to achieve a higher degree of Black Belt. These students work on different Protech Weapons and Tactics during testing cycles as well as the Leadership/CIT curriculum.

Life Skills

The Life Skills Curriculum is central to the function of an American Taekwondo Association (ATA) school. In many ways, we use Taekwondo as a method to teach Life Skills. Historically, martial artists have always held themselves to a high standard of behavior because of their potentially dangerous skills. The ATA continues and advances this tradition by formalizing the values learned. For colored belts (those who haven't yet attained their Black Belts), the Life Skills include:

Confidence Discipline Integrity
Goal-Setting Focus Self-Esteem
Respect Attitude Perseverance

Each of these virtues is used as a monthly theme for classes, around which the lesson plan is built with the intent of teaching and reinforcing the values of the monthly theme.

In advance programs like the Black Belt Club and Master's Club/Leadership/Certified Instructors Training, Life Skills expand to include values such as:

Responsibility Loyalty Courage
Service Motivation Communication
Vision

The formalized Life Skills curriculum is what sets the ATA apart from every other martial arts organization. Only the ATA provides instructors with applicable, progressive lesson plans on these virtues, prepared for various age levels. And in the ATA, every student and instructor is held accountable for conducting themselves according to these virtues by other members of the organization.
