Our Mission

 ATA Black Belt Academy & Karate for Kids is dedicated to "Changing the World - One Black Belt at a Time". By supplying the highest quality martial arts instruction available in a safe and positive learning environment, students of all ages will enjoy the learning experience and personal development that they will achieve through training in the Songahm Taekwondo.

Our Schools

ATA Black Belt Academy in Oak Forest, Illinois, has been serving the south suburbs for over 27 years. We have seen over 1500 students of all ages begin their Taekwondo careers with us, including 12 World Champions, 20 United States National Champions, and countless Illinois State champions.

In 2005 we proudly announced the opening of a New School location in the city of Bradley, Illinois at the Northfield Square Mall. In the two and half years that it has been open, we have seen children as young as 3 years old through adult start taking Taekwondo. We have parents and even grandparents start taekwondo to share in the fun of learning a martial art.

Our Instructors

Our instructors are trained and certified professionals. All instructors must meet the rigorous standards set by the American Taekwondo Association, which includes regular participation in instructor training classes and over 100 hours of practical teaching experience at each level of instructorship (Three Levels).

Our Owner

The owner of the ATA Black Belt Academy & Karate for Kids is Master Gene Candreva, 7th Degree Black Belt and one of the highest-ranking instructors in the American Taekwondo Association with 35 years experience.

Our Association

The American Taekwondo Association is the largest single styled martial arts originations in the world. In 2008 the American Taekwondo Association by-passed a milestone by attaining it over One Millionth Member. The ATA was founded by Eternal Grand Master Haeng Ung Lee, one of the original pioneers that brought martial arts to America. The ATA has more than 1500 schools world wide and thousands of certified instructors.
